Längst auch tief im Zentrum globaler Kultur angekommen, vereinnahmt sie sohin auch kreative Arbeit und Prozesse, den öffentlichen Raum, Visuelles, Akustisches, Textliches – auch die Kunst selbst.

In DEGENERIERTE : INTELLIGENZ nähert sich NANNA CARTIS dieser Entwicklung als multimediale Installation in Wort, Ton und Bild in einer vor allem emotionalen Untersuchung – im Kontrast zu einem rein intellektuell geführten Diskurs. Im Versuch zu ergründen, was es bedeutet, wenn kein menschlicher Gedanke, kein Gespür und kein Auge mehr hinter einer Schöpfung stehen, kreativer Output zunehmend durch Formeln standardisiert, berechnet und generalisiert wird, rückt die grundlegende Frage nach der Bedeutung von Kunst in ihrem Ursprung und in ihrer Funktion in den Fokus.

Die Künstlerin tastet sich dabei an jene Ebene heran, die sich jeder vollständigen Reproduzierbarkeit entzieht: dem zutiefst Menschlichen – der “Seele im Werk”.

A.I. – already permeates every aspect of our daily lives, progressively replacing the human component at many critical junctions of our society. Having long since reached the very center of global culture, it now also appropriates creative labor and processes, public space, the visual, the acoustic, the textual – and even art itself.

In DEGENERIERTE : INTELLIGENZ, NANNA CARTIS approaches this development as a multimedia installation in word, sound, and image, engaging primarily in an emotional investigation – in contrast to a purely intellectual discourse. In an attempt to explore what it means when no human thought, no intuition, and no eye stand behind a creation, when creative output is increasingly standardized, calculated, and generalized through formulas, the fundamental question of the meaning of art – both in its origin and its function – comes into focus.

In doing so, the artist reaches toward that very layer which resists complete reproducibility: the profoundly human – the “soul within the work.”
